Unbelievable!
On Sunday, we went to the cemetery to bring Christmas to my mom.
We decided on a small Christmas tree, and a bunch of holiday greens: holly, holly berries, pine branches, etc. Something other than cut flowers that would wither and die off quickly. We arrived at the cemetery, and planted the little tree next to the headstone, and then placed the greenery into one of the flower holders on the other side. While I wish she was here, it is comforting to be able to do this small gesture. To be able to go where she is, and bring her flowers, and talk to her. So, it means a lot to us that what we bring is left there with her.
Today, while I was waiting for my son at school, my cell phone rang. It was my aunt. She was at the cemetery with her husband. She asked what did the greenery look like that I left there, because she was standing right in front of the headstone, and there was no greenery, only the tree that we had planted in the ground. She looked all around the area, and up the hill behind to see if maybe it was somewhere. Nothing....the bunch of greenery is gone.
I just don't understand....are some people that horrible? What makes people that miserable, that they would steal from a cemetery? It just blows my mind. Someone on the scrapbooking board I go to said that someone upstairs is watching, and Bad Karma might get to them at some point in their lives..I surely hope so.
In the end, I am not going to dwell on this. My mother knows that we were there, and that is all that really matters.
Merry Christmas, Mom. We love you, more than ever. :) xoxo
