Yeah, mom, it's neat.

It has to be said, that my idea of neat, is not equal to my son's idea of neat.

Today, I took my youngest child to work with me. He's 13, and really responsible. He's a good, hard worker, and does help me a great deal. But, his idea of neat, and mine, do not mesh. He told me that the opposide side of my counter of cards was neat - and when I went around to that side to order - it wasn't neat...there were envelopes sticking up, and cards not pocketed all the way into their respective pockets. *sigh*

I asked - 'this is neat?'
He said - 'Uh, yeah.'

Gotta love him though. He did go back and redo it, and make it neat. My kind of neat. :)

On a side note - today we had record low temperatures here. It was 53 degrees - that's farenheit, ya'll. It's August....remember? It did feel really good to have some cool weather. If only the sun was shining, though, and not raining buckets of water.

Anyway - it was a day to sit and read, or watch TV. So, that's what we did when we got home.

Pet peeve - when people don't respond to emails, or phone calls that they said they were going to make.

I'm out.

Jen bought two books today, for two of her classes.....just two. "2".

Yes - really. I guess that it's been a long time since I've been exposed to these college book store prices. She still needs to buy books for three other classes, but, they were not in stock. She'll have to go back and buy them during her break between classes on Monday - her first official day of the semester.

Fun stuff.

More later today *Tuesday*. I have to go to bed now. It's verrrrrrrrrrrry late.

Safe and sound

My dad was in Peru - he was supposed to stay until some time in October.

He's home. Thank goodness!

There were some issues.....and he was all set to come home on Tuesday, but, he couldn't get a flight out until late Wednesday night. That flight, would put him back in Florida, on Thursday morning. Wednesday night, my aunt called to let me know that she just heard there was an earthquake in Peru. Of course, at this point, there was no way to get in touch with my father. All we could do, was wait, wait to hear from him.....all while watching the death toll climb, and hearing more and more about the magnitude of the after shocks.

When I woke up on Thursday morning - it was to the ring of the phone. My aunt...she had gotten in contact with my brother, and found out that my dad was back in Florida. He was waiting for a connecting flight. Since his flight left Lima two hours late, he missed his connection in Florida - so he had to wait. But, he was on US soil - so all was good.

What a relief it was to hear his voice on Thursday afternoon. He told me about the experience of the earthquake - he said it was the longest 25 seconds of his life. I can only imagine..

So, he's safe, and he is at home.

Thank God.

Been a while

I've been busy, and haven't taken the time to post/update here. Between work, and vacationing with the kids, free time to do so has been scarce.

So, down to business - Jen is registered for all of her classes, and starts in two weeks. I think she's excited, and nervous, at the same time. She has to go purchase her books next week - that is when the bookstore will have all the books prepped with the class/section numbers.

She has also been working, and going out with her friends. Last weekend, she went to the Warped Tour, and Nassau Coliseum. The bands were great, she said. But, it was so hot. She said at one point, a girl fainted right in front of her, and dropped to the ground. The boyfriend couldn't even pick her up, and somewhat dragged her to the first aid station. Pretty scary stuff. They only stayed for three hours, and decided to come home, shower and change, and go to dinner and the movies. Pretty smart.

The boys have been enjoying summer. Hanging out with their friends, spending time with their dad, and me.

I'm going on vacation soon - European destination. Can't wait!

Anyway - gotta scoot.
