First date night

My daughter is out tonight, on her very first date!

Today was interesting....she had to work early. 8-2. She never works that early, ever. She has always been given a later shift. Anyway, at 2pm, I head over to the store to pick her up, and I'm waiting, and waiting. 2:25 rolls around, and she comes walking out, and I asked her what she was doing. She said that she had been talking to someone. The rest of the convo went like this:

Me - "Does someone have a name?"
Her - "Yeah......Harvey" (she had a grin on her face, the likes of nothing I'd ever seen before)
Me - "Harvey??"
Her - "Well, they call him Matt, too."
slight pause in there...
Her - "Mom, he asked me to go OUT to a movie tonight!!"
Me - "How old is he?"
Her - "Mom, don't get mad....he's 22."
Me - "22?"
Her - "Yeah, I told him I didn't know if I could, that I had to ask your permission first. He said that he would meet you, and dad, and follow any rules for curfew, too."
(me, thinking to self, oh yeah, that's for sure!)

We went to the bank to get money, and she said that she already had money. That she got it when she went out for lunch during her break. I asked - where did you go on break? Across to the pizza place.... with who? *giggle* "Harvey, mom!! And, guess what? He paid, too!"

So - the rest of the conversation was really open, and honest. Lot's of giggles on her side. She kept saying that she never thought anyone would ever ask her out. She's so much more mature than the boys that go to her school. She's also a lot taller than them.

We got home, and she chatted with him online for a while. I told her that if she really wanted to go out, she could, BUT, she had to go on a double date with her best friend, and the best friend's boyfriend. Her girlfriend said that they would definitely go out with them. (Her boyfriend is super protective over her, and all of her friends, and he's 19.) The guy that asked my daughter out agreed right away to the double date.

So, they agreed on a movie, and he came over to pick her up. Got out of the car, shook my hand, such a polite young man, soft spoken, very, very tall, and super cute. He's in college, which is a plus, too.

I had said all along, that once she got a job, or even once college started, that would be when she'd meet someone. And, here it is, a month after starting her job, she's out on her first date.

I'm sitting here, feeling happy, and excited for her. But, at the same time, I'm feeling sad, and unsure. I want her to grow up, and be happy, and enjoy life to the fullest. But, at the same time - I don't want to let go of the little girl. I know that I'm going to have to do that, because we have to give our children wings to fly. I just wish I could keep her wings clipped a little longer.....

*sigh* and *sigh* again.....

Serious scrappers binge....

I've bought a lot of stuff the last two weeks....way too much, I think. :P

First, there was the day I went to Target with my son to get him cold medicine. I got the cold medicine, and the bill came to ~$74. The cold medicine was $5.73 or so. Uh..the rest was all scrapbook stuff. That specific Target recently revamped their sb section, and all the new stuff was really cute!

Then, I went to Michael's, and bought more stuff, because *they* revamped their sb section. AC Moore was next on the hit list - did I mention they've gotten in a bunch of new product, too?

Then, the other night, I ordered from Two Peas in a Bucket. Lovely, lovely, felt ribbon. :) I got all the colors...look at the pink..... isn't it delish? The only color 2peas didn't have, was black..and I'd love to get this in black.

I will, too. You watch!

(My best attempt at an excuse for all this buying - my daughter is graduating HS, and I'm working on an album to give her at her graduation party. Sort of - all the years of her life. Or, at least, most of the years.) teehee!

More shopping for sb stuffs!!!

Okay, I know that I have enough. I know that I said I wasn't going to buy anymore. I promised, even. But, the only promises I ever break, are the one's that I make regarding NOT buying new sb stuff. I keep my other promises. :) I do, really.

So, today, I got some new stuff at the sb store, and even Michael's. M's is getting a sb face lift. Lot's of new product. Lot's of the same stuff. One thing I have to say - wow! lot's of nice new albums. A really great, and pretty selection there now.

We also went to the mall. John needed some shorts, and a few new t-shirts. Jen bought herself 2 tops at AE, and 2 posters at Hot Topic. I hate Hot Topic...they play the music way too loud, and I think it sounds bad.... :P the kids like it, though. /shrug

Now, we're home. It's 73, make that 75!!! degrees out there today. Bea-U-ti-ful. :)

Some random pics

Easter has come and gone. The kids all got Easter baskets, even at 17, 15, and 13. Funny, my 17 was the first one to be finished with her candy!! I couldn't believe it. My 13yo still had candy in the basket - I know, because I steal some, now and then. :) shhhhhh!!

I bought this flower, at Stop and Shop. I thought it was pretty darn cute, with the poms, and pipecleaners formed to be ears and whiskers! I was working, filling in and making the Easter cards all neat, when I happened to see a shopper with one of these guys in her shopping cart. So, after I finished up at that account, I got one of my own. He sits to the right side of my computer desk, isn't he cute?!

I told the kids, that for some reason, it just made me smile.

I'm going to plant the flower outside, as soon as the weather warms up.

These pictures are from the day in the city. Luck would have it, that the Macy's Flower Show was going on that week. I've always wanted to see this event at Macy's Herald Square, but, I've never gotten there, even all the years I worked in Manhattan. Anyway - the windows were so beautiful, amazingly so! Unfortunately, the glare in these pictures sucks. :( Inside, the giraffe, and zebra, topiaries were so neat. The giraffee must have been at least 25 - 30 feet tall. But, I don't know for sure. :)

Anyway, it was really neat to see this for the first time.

I haven't been updating my blog very much lately. Obviously.

I don't have a huge, or for that matter, any following. Some people have readers, and comments, on their blog daily. But, I don't, and that's okay, really. The blog is mostly for me, and if someone else reads it, and gets a chuckle out of something I wrote, or finds a happy memory because of a memory I described, that's even better.

I guess I don't lead a very exciting life. Just a regular, everyday gal - kind of life. Now, anyway.

So, what have I been doing lately....

I started a new character in WoW. Two, actually. One that I play on Stormreaver (PvP) with a group I've been gaming, on and off with, for the last four years or so. Her name is Lieserl, a Night Elf druid, and she's almost 20.

And, another on Terenas (PvE) with my son, horde side. Her name is Janina, a Troll priest, he is playing an Orc warrior, named Thunderlight, and I think we're level 6, & 7 - respectively. My son loves to play a warrior.

Last night, instead of playing on Stormreaver, though, I logged in on my level 70 warlock, Sassenach. I fished, for along time. I didn't take the time to get her fishing to 300 way back when, so now, I'm doing it. I did catch quite a lot of fish, though, it took quite a while to go from 268 - 280, though. *sigh*

So, that's the WoW excitement.

My daughter, who is 17, went to bed at 7:30pm last night. Rather, I think she fell asleep watching TV, and slept through the night. The boys went to bed at 10:30, and I went early, hitting the pillow around 11:15. I'm always exhausted at that 'time'. /shrug

Anyway - it's now 8am. It's a drizzly, misty, icky day. Everything is wet. Though, the grass is getting greener, and the flowers are blooming. My weeping cherry tree looks like it's about ready to burst into bloom.

April showers bring May flowers, afterall. :)

I think we may be going to WDW again this August.

Yes, I said August. Hmm....'s going to be hot.'s going to be sticky.'s going to be crowded.'s going to be a lot of fun, Disney always is.

If I could wait, I'd much rather go in October. But, Jen starts college this year, and I can't go pulling her out of school to go on vacation. So, the only other option - Florida, in the summer. At least the parks are open late, and the pool is cool. haha. We can get up, and go out early, and then come back to the hotel, and go swimming for a while, or swim first, then head out later.

We'll see.

Daffodils are my favorite spring flower.

Tulips, are my favorite flower overall, but, for springtime, it's the daffodil. :)

When I see those happy yellow flower heads, I can't help but smile. They come in all sizes, and color combinations. From the tiny little narcissus, to the larger variety of the flower. They remind me of a girl with a bonnet on, for some reason or another. Especially when the flower head is so heavy, that it is leaning over.

Bringing in a bunch of daffodils, to place in a vase on the kitchen table brightens up the room. I only wish they would last longer after being cut.

City day!

Tomorrow I'll be going into Manhattan with my daughter. We're going to meet my aunt. Our aunt. My mother's sister. She is also my daughter's god mother.

We are going shopping for prom things. Namely, an evening bag of some kind, and a jewelry set, to go with the gown. We'll also check around the fashion district, to see if we can find some kind of floral item to be used with the comb in her hair.

We love the city. It's so much fun to walk around, and see everything. Especially when the weather is really nice. Tomorrow, is supposed to be a beautiful spring day. The forecast calls for high of 68 midtown, and sunny. Yay!

Since Jen has never been to a real Chinese restaurant, we are going to one for lunch. There are so many nice places midtown, so we'll pick one and eat lunch. I'm bringing the camera, of course, and hope to get shots of her eating with chopsticks! We never go to a Chinese restaurant here, because first of all, there aren't many sit down places. Secondly, the boys hate Chinese, we just get take out, and then the boys get pizza. So, we figure tomorrow is a great opportunity to enjoy lunch someplace new, and exciting.

We're also going to visit the M&M's store, and the Hershey's Chocolate store. The details are so great, more picture taking for me! I'll have more pics to scrap after this trip. I'm very glad about that...though...I have so many waiting for me already. LOL

I finally colored my hair tonight. The last time I did was late January, and the grey was really showing this time around. Maybe my hair grew really fast this time..I dunno. Anyway, it came out much darker than I had anticipated. Not so sure how I feel about that. At least the grey is covered. :-P

Anyway - gotta wait a bit before turning in, I just polished my nails a little while ago, and they need some drying time, or they'll have imprints from the sheets on them. *sigh*
